I took these photos in mid August on a tributary of the River Stour called the Sturkle in North Dorset UK. I created a temporary hide 12 feet away from this bamboo perch where the kingfishers occasionally hunt from. The female is the one with a fish and on the left hand end of the perch, the male is the one waiting in the rain.

Nice pics. My uncle's land has the Sturkle gently flowing though it at melbury abbas. About 25 years ago the late Jack Hargreaves from the programme "out of town" filmed dippers nesting there. Don't expect any there now !
